Rhema Christian School

Frequently Asked Questions

What does “Rhema” mean?
There are two words in the Greek language for the Word of God. “Logos” refers to the written word of God and “Rhema” refers to the “Word of God” in action in our hearts and in our lives.

What type of school is Rhema?
Rhema is registered with the state of Pennsylvania as a private school and is in compliance with state regulations for private schools. It has been in existence since 1980. The school is incorporated independently and is governed by a school board elected by the corporation’s membership. The corporation and student body are representative of a wide range of churches. Rhema offers a traditional curriculum including computers, physical education, art, and music. Students are tested yearly with standardized achievement tests and many consistently score several years higher than the national averages. We continue firm in the resolve to operate every aspect of our school in a professional manner.

How is the school funded?
Approximately 85% of Rhema’s budget is derived from tuition. The remaining 15% is realized through donations and fund raising. While a few churches contribute financially, Rhema is not governed by any single church or denomination.

How is the school governed?
Rhema is governed by a school board which is elected by the parent corporation at an annual business meeting in the spring. The role of the school board is to establish school policies, develop plans, appoint administration and teaching staff, and to manage the annual budget. The responsibility of the daily operation of the school and execution of policy lies with the principal.
